Roots of Remembrance is a day-long, land-based gathering devoted to remembering, honoring, and giving thanks for what has shaped us.

Held in relationship with the forest, the fire, and one another, this gathering offers space to slow down, reconnect with the land, and tend what we carry. It is an invitation to step out of ordinary time and into a shared experience of presence, reflection, movement, and community.

This is not a workshop designed to fix or analyze anything. It is a day to listen, to feel, and to be held by the land and by shared intention.

We will begin by opening sacred space together, acknowledging the land and calling in gratitude for the seen and unseen influences that walk with us. From there, the day will unfold organically through a blend of ceremony, time in nature, shared nourishment, quiet reflection, and embodied expression. For lunch, we will share a meal together in a potluck fashion, serving as an act of communal bond and mutual support for each other.

Participants are welcome to engage at their own pace. You may speak or remain quiet, move or rest, participate fully or witness from the edges. There is no expectation to share more than feels right.

Throughout the day, we will gather in different ways, both together and individually, allowing space for remembrance, connection, and integration. The land itself will be an active participant, offering its own guidance and support.

We will close the day in circle with gratitude, gently releasing the space we have held together and honoring what each person is carrying forward.

This gathering may resonate with you if you feel called to slow down, to reconnect with yourself and the natural world, or to be part of a day shaped by intention, reverence, and community.

No prior experience with ceremony, movement, or group gatherings is required. You are welcome exactly as you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a grief event?
Roots of Remembrance is not a grief workshop or therapy session. While the day may touch places of remembrance, change, or tenderness, it is held as a gathering in gratitude and presence rather than a focus on grief itself. Many people come simply to slow down, reconnect with the land, and be part of an intentional day in community.

Do I need to share personal experiences in a group?
No. Sharing is always optional. You are welcome to speak, remain quiet, participate fully, or witness from the edges. All forms of presence are respected.

Is this a spiritual or religious gathering?
The gathering is spiritual in nature but not tied to any specific religion or belief system. Practices are earth-honoring and invitational, and you are encouraged to interpret the experience in a way that aligns with your own understanding.

What if I am new to ceremony or group gatherings like this?
You are very welcome. No prior experience is needed. The day is guided gently, with clear invitations and no expectation to know what to do or how to participate.

Will there be movement involved?
There will be opportunities for embodied expression, as well as time for stillness and rest. You are always encouraged to listen to your body and engage in ways that feel supportive for you.

Is this physically demanding?
The day includes time outdoors and gentle walking on natural terrain. Most activities are adaptable. If you have specific accessibility needs, please reach out in advance so we can support you as best we can.

What should I bring?
Please bring clothing appropriate for the weather, a water bottle, and a journal if you enjoy writing. You may also wish to bring something for the potluck lunch. Additional details will be shared closer to the gathering.

What if strong emotions arise for me during the day?
All facilitators are experienced in holding grounded, respectful space. You are encouraged to tend yourself with care, take breaks as needed, and ask for support if you feel called to do so.

Can I leave early if I need to?
Yes. While we encourage staying for the full day if possible, you are always welcome to care for your needs and leave quietly if necessary.

Is this appropriate if I am currently in a tender or transitional place in my life?
Many people are drawn to this gathering during times of change, reflection, or transition. The day is designed to be spacious and supportive rather than intense or directive.

How does the sliding scale work?
The sliding scale is offered to support accessibility and sustainability. You are invited to choose an amount within the range that feels aligned with your resources and your sense of value.

How do I reserve my spot?
Space is limited to honor the intimacy of the container. If you are interested in attending, we ask that you send your exchange through Venmo, then RSVP by sending an email to buckcreeksanctuary@gmail.com to receive a reply of confirmation.
