Visioning B.E.A.R. (Balance, Equality, and Respect) Circle Intertribal Coalition (VBCIC) is inviting Grand Mothers and people from all nations and genders to retrace the Anishinaabe migration route of the Seven Fires Prophecy from the mouth of the Passamaquoddy River in Maine to the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation (LCO) near Hayward Wisconsin. We will begin July 1, 2026, and arrive no later than September 22, 2026, in time to participate in the Women and Water Indigenous International Clean Water Summit from September 23-27, hosted by Abiinooji Aki, Inc (AAI). Maryellen Baker, founder and director of AAI, is fulfilling her dream to gather 5,000 women for healing and prayer for clean water. 

Grandmother Star Stone, of VBCIC, had a dream that the grandmothers of all nations walk the Anishinaabe migration route of the Seven Fires Prophecy, which foretold the devastating impact of light skinned people on the Anishinaabe peoples’ lives and culture. Following Spirit’s direction in a dream to an elder, many Anishinaabe People migrated to the place where food grows on water. Grandmother Star Stone is called to walk this migration route. Along the route, a lead woman will carry sacred water in a copper vessel, always moving forward. We will walk across many states in ceremony and prayer. Each step is a prayer of our connection to Mother Earth, our ancestors, to the women, to the water, to our children, and to each other as sacred beings. Men will walk with us as protectors, carrying our sacred staff.

Tribal nations are invited to walk with us carrying their eagle staff.
Peoples of all nations are invited to walk all or part of our journey.
The walk is conducted in relay fashion.
