- **Event Description**: Grim Parlay at Castle Cove is an ORIGINAL murder mystery produced with our current troupe of actors and performers, only this time we’re opening some of the roles to our COMMUNITY!

We are holding OPEN AUDITIONS on June 26th and 27th from 6PM to 8PM. No previous acting experience is needed. Performers will receive a small stipend.

Join our troupe and be a part of a fun and safe environment were the main goal is to provide quality entertainment for the whole family.

This is a somewhat improvised style play, so don’t worry about preparing anything unless you have any special skills/ talents (playing an instrument, juggling, knife throwing, etc). We would like to see those because there are a couple of small vignettes during the show and we’d like to utilize any skills that may be available.

At the auditions we will give you some sides to read.  We will also give you a description of a character and have you answer some questions as that character.

CAST OF CHARACTERS:

BURR THE BUTCHER (Based on Blackbeard) – A menacing and frightening captain who uses fear to overtake his foes. He actually considers himself more of a lover than a fighter, and uses his reputation to get what he wants without a fight.

VIPER QUEEN (Based on Madame Cheng) – A pirate queen from the east, who started out a courtesan and worked her way up to ruling the biggest fleet in the world. She has a new and tenuous alliance with Magnus, and is the most powerful of the Council of Six.

STORMY ALICE SANDS (Based on Mary Read) – Formerly a woman disguised as a man, she worked her way up to captain, then revealing her true identity. She is a fearsome and ruthless pirate, fighting harder and dirtier than most because she has to.

SIR DANIEL CROFT (Based on Francis Drake) – A privateer representing a large part of the buccaneers in Magnus’ fleet. He is proud and vain, an explorer who doesn’t like to get his hands too dirty himself.

ZIDALGO (Based on a Barbarossa Brother) – A pirate from the Mediterranean, who with his brother ruled the sea. His brother was killed by a mysterious assassin, and he has joined Magnus’ pirate kingdom in hopes that they will provide the support he needs now alone.

CAIN “THE KRACKEN” MACREADY (Detective for the Mystery) – Magnus’ loyal right-hand-man who bears an eyepatch, and was left in charge of the rest of the pirates while Magnus met with the captains of his fleet to discuss his inheritance. Comedic, loyal, and trustworthy.
