Step into the shadows of history and mystery at one of Greene County's most haunted treasures. The 5th Annual Halloween Ghost Hunt returns to the historic James J. Eldred House, a landmark steeped in 19th-century elegance, local legend, and chilling paranormal activity.

Built in 1861 by James J. Eldred, a prosperous farmer and one of the region's largest landowners, the limestone mansion was designed in the Greek Revival style with touches of Italianate architecture. Eldred built the home for his wife and four children and quickly became known as a gathering place for family and community celebrations.

Yet beneath the grandeur lies a tragic history. Three of Eldred's daughters, Alma, Alice, and Eva, died at young ages, leaving a lasting mark on the family's story. James and his wife remained in the home until his death in 1911, and over the decades the house passed through several owners before falling into disrepair. Today, thanks to the dedication of the Illinois Valley Cultural Heritage Association, the Eldred House is being lovingly restored, and many believe its former residents never truly left.

🎙️ The Nursery

Participate in an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) session and see if the spirits are willing to communicate.

For those brave enough to stay longer, the 10:00 PM Premium Tour includes everything in the standard experience plus additional time inside the house after your guided investigation.
