Project GIVE El Paso Genetics Education CME Conference

Our overarching objective is to expedite genetic evaluations in remote areas of Texas to improve health outcomes of children living with rare diseases. This session will provide background information on clinical genetics concepts, including information regarding when to refer children to genetics. We will also discuss updates from Project GIVE, a study that expedites genomic evaluation and testing for children in El Paso.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participants should be able to:

• Describe some of the genetic syndromes that are associated with neurodevelopmental problems in children
• Describe common behavior problems observed in certain genetic disorders
• Discuss the potential solutions to address health care disparities in genomic medicine.

Target Audience: This activity is for physicians, physician assistants, social workers, students, therapists, nurses, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and other healthcare providers.
