"HAIRSPRAY The Broadway Musical" at SAAC July 10-13 & 17-20

“Hairspray, The Broadway Musical” is SAAC's highly anticipated 2025 summer production. Showing July 10-13 & 17-29, tickets are available for purchase online and at SAAC. Sponsored by Murphy USA, this energetic and colorful show promises to transport audiences back to the lively 1960s, blending fun-filled nostalgia with meaningful themes of acceptance, societal progress, and the courage to be oneself.

Based on the 1988 film *Hairspray*, set in 1960s Baltimore, the story follows Tracy Turnblad, a confident girl who dreams of dancing on a TV show. Despite her weight and modest background, she impresses judges and becomes a local star. When she chooses a Black partner, the racist director opposes her, but Tracy leads a rebellion against segregation. In the end, she wins the contest and champions equality.
