About the event

OPENING CEREMONY for the SHADI HOLIDAY DISPLAY 2025!

JOIN US on Saturday, December 13th at 5 pm as we turn the lights and music on at the SHADI HOLIDAY DISPLAY for the first time in 2025! [Arrive a bit early for the sunset about 4:50 pm...]

Volunteers have been working all year to get the display looking its best. Can't wait for you to enjoy it all.
It's been 76 YEARS since Sundar Shadi first placed a star on the hillside next to his home on the Arlington. Every year he added more and more! There are now about 500 pieces in the Shadi Holiday Display. It is truly a hand-crafted folk art treasure!

BRING YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY! Share a memory or create new ones.

DON'T MISS the newly-remodeled display! The sheep have been repainted-- and the Town of Bethlehem too! The camels with broken legs have been repaired and other figures have new hands, new feet... and even new faces! The Wise Men have new regal clothes and the angel has a special hair style-- not to miss!

I have led a group of carolers at the Shadi site for many years now and would like to know if there are times available for me to do the same this year. I am the longest running member of the Contra Costa Chorale, though we would not name our participation as an official one for the Chorale. Please respond ASAP as I know several folks who would like to participate with me.
