In 1989 onstond in de donkerste krochten van Tilburg de band Dethroned Empire, zwaar geinspireerd door Bathory, Hellhammer en Celtic Frost. Enige tijd later veranderde de band haar naam in AntropomorphiA en werd de muzikale koers verlegd richting death metal. Onder die naam bracht de band 2 tapes in eigen beheer uit en een eerste EP 'Necromantic Love Songs' via Blackened Records in 1993. Eind jaren '90 verliet oorspronkelijke gitarist Vincent van Boxtel (die onlangs de ongelijke strijd tegen een slopende ziekte helaas verloor) de band waarna een pauze van ruim 10 jaar volgde. In 2009 maakte AntropomorphiA een geslaagde comeback en scoorde de band een platendeal bij het fameuze Metalblade label waarmee het nog 4 duistere albums op de mensheid afvuurde waaronder 'Rites ov Perversion' uit 2014. Na een turbulente periode (hallo pandemie) bracht AntropomorphiA eerder dit jaar hun album 'Devoid of Light' uit via het label Testimony Records met 9 ijzersterke blackened death metalsongs. Het Helmondse Necrotesque zag in 2020 het duistere levenslicht en had maar 1 doel: recht-toe-recht-aan old school death metal van het type kettingzaag op de mensheid los te laten. In een rap (mid-)tempo bracht de band achtereenvolgens de EP 'The Necrotic Grotesque' (rara, waar doet die naam aan denken?), hun debuutalbum 'The Perpetuated Festering' en recentelijk hun EP 'Love And Pieces' uit en speelde inmiddels een indrukwekkend aantal shows in zowel binnen- als buitenland? En hoe klinkt zoiets dan? "Je kunt zeggen dat Necrotesque de natte plek is op het matras waar Bolt Thrower, Asphyx en Entombed zojuist een triootje hebben gehad", aldus de Aardschok. Beter hadden wij het niet kunnen omschrijven dus komt dat zien en horen!
