- **Event Description**: We are excited to share that Shaw Woods Outdoor Education Centre (SWOEC) will be welcoming us for our April Wilderness Walks. Located between Eganville and Pembroke, Shaw Woods features 14 km of beautiful trails, passing through a variety of old growth and mixed forest, ponds and wetlands. Owned and proudly preserved by the Shaw Family since 1847, the site includes 50 hectares of diverse old growth forest.

Date: Saturday April 25th, 2026
Time: 10:00am (Parking available on site)
Location: Shaw Woods Outdoor Education Centre, 2065 Bulger Road, North Algona Wilberforce Township  

Admission: A small donation to support the work of CPAWS-OV and/or Shaw Woods Outdoor Education Centre is appreciated.

We will start on the West Trail where the Old Growth trail offers great opportunities to witness giant hemlocks, some over 200 years old. The East Side trail also includes a spectacular scenic lookout overlooking Shaw Pond where we could see some migrating waterfowl.

Situé entre Eganville et Pembroke, Shaw Woods offre 14 km de magnifiques sentiers traversant une variété de forêts anciennes et mixtes, ainsi que des étangs et des milieux humides. Propriété de la famille Shaw depuis 1847 et soigneusement préservé par celle-ci, le site comprend 50 hectares de forêt ancienne diversifiée.

Admission : Un petit don pour soutenir le travail de CPAWS-OV et/ou du Centre d'éducation Shaw Woods est apprécié.

Nous commencerons par le sentier ouest, où le sentier de la forêt ancienne offre d’excellentes occasions d’observer de gigantesques pruches, dont certaines ont plus de 200 ans. Le sentier du côté est comprend également un belvédère spectaculaire donnant sur l’étang Shaw, où nous pourrions apercevoir des oiseaux aquatiques en migration.
