For November’s Sketch Meet we have been invited to sketch at Farmfair International taking place at the Edmonton EXPO Centre (7515 118 Ave NW). Please note this will be happening A WEEK EARLIER than our usual date on Saturday, November 8th, 2025, 11 am - 1 pm.

Patty Milligan, whom we all know from the Urban Farm garden, has invited us and is offering a unique sketch experience with the cattle. We would have some safely scouted sketching spots to sketch the cattle while being groomed along with spots near the show ring. Anyone interested in this sketching option should remember to wear close toes shoes, foot wear you don’t mind potentially getting a bit dirty and warmish clothes as the cattle are kept in a cooler area.

Anyone not interested in sketching cattle are welcome to sketch anywhere in the other event spaces. There are MANY other options including an AG Education Centre, petting zoo, rabbit competition, marketplace and a canine event. Patty will meet us at the top and give us a quick overview of the options then lead those interested to the cattle areas. 

Hall Activity Breakdown:

Hall A&C Stabling. These areas can be a bit more tricky (for sketching) because of the movement of cattle. Safe spots with visual interest will be scouted out before you arrive on Saturday. Lawn chairs would be good to have for many of these spots!
It’s important to wear closed toe shoes that people don’t mind getting a bit mucky. 

Hall B has the show ring as well as some stabling. Sketchers can easily find a spot there at the show ring.

Also, Halls A, B, and C can be quite chilly (they are kept cool for the animals) so dress well. For anyone who plans to sit in the stands and watch the action at the show ring, it would make sense to bring some thing to sit on  (the metal benches can be quite cold.)

Hall E has the Country Christmas Market place as well as the petting zoo, mini highland cows (which people will be cuddling between 11-2), and Wiener Dog races at 11am. At 12pm there is a demo of retired police and military dogs.

Hall F will have the agriculture education activities, including hatching chicks and rabbit show.


We will meet back at the Hall E alcove at 1pm to share our sketches and take photos. Lunch/ social will be at the onsite concessions afterwards. 

The whole event is FREE and family friendly. Please note parking requires payment and is NOT free.
