In a fractured and increasingly polarized world, interfaith harmony is something to celebrate. The North American Interfaith Network (NAIN) has been building communication and mutual understanding among interfaith organizations and diverse religious groups throughout North America for 30 years.
NAIN Connect is an annual conference taking place this year in Edmonton from July 31-August 3 at MacEwan University. Keynote speakers include:
* Lieutenant-General, the Honourable Roméo Dallaire (Ret’d)
* Dr. Marie Wilson, Truth and Reconciliation Commission
* Stephen Kakfwi, former President of the Dene Nation and former Premier of the NWT
* Nakita Valerio, writer, academic, and advocate
* Shachi Kurl, Executive Director of the Angus Reid Institute
* Rev. Dr. Robert Sellers, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Parliament of the World’s Religions
In addition, there are dozens of workshops and panels throughout the conference on a variety of topics such as Christian-Muslim dialogue, the role of faith communities in various social issues, Indigenous topics, and more. Afternoon tours will explore places in Edmonton and area that nurture our spirits and foster interconnectedness with Mother Earth, Creator, and one another.
Several registration options are available. One can register for the entire conference, for one day, for just the Roméo Dallaire keynote, or for the NAIN 30 celebration banquet on August 1. Information, schedule, and pricing can be found at: https://nain2018edmonton.ca/registration/
The conference is being hosted by the Edmonton Interfaith Centre for Education and Action (edminterfaithcentre.ca), a charitable organization that has been working for interfaith harmony for over 22 years and is made up of people from more than a dozen faith traditions. Even if you can't attend the conference, please consider making a donation to help what we are doing. Donations can be of any amount and are tax-deductible: https://nain2018edmonton.ca/sponsorships/
