About the event

First Nations Economic Forums – Edmonton
Engaging community in meaningful dialogue to design a path forward for First Nations Economic Reconciliation

About this Event

We invite you to attend our upcoming First Nations Economic Forums half-day gatherings in your region, where Indigenous leaders, organizations, and partners will come together to discuss and prioritize Indigenous economic reconciliation options and the key drivers from rightsholders’ perspective. These forums are designed to foster meaningful dialogue and shared understanding. Attendees are encouraged to engage fully in discussions and contribute their unique insights. We look forward to your participation in this important conversation.

Why is it important you attend?

We need your voice to ensure the message we heard and shared from last year’s First Nations Economic Forum is updated and valid for the new reality ahead. The Indigenous Economic Council (IEC), in partnership with rightsholders across Canada, forwarded a framework for economic reconciliation to the Government of Canada shortly before the elections in the U.S. and Canada. We need to ensure the new federal government is aware of the opportunities and priorities to improve the strength of First Nations and Canada at the same time.

The Indigenous Economic Council (IEC)

National Indigenous Organizations (NIOs) across Canada have come together as the IEC to coordinate support and action toward the reestablishment, renewal, and strengthening of Indigenous economies – economic reconciliation. By working together the NIOs and Indigenous communities can identify and prioritize their opportunities, enlighten partners and better enable the growth of their economies. The Economic Council, with the support of Indigenous rightsholders, has developed and is championing an economic reconciliation framework that identifies priority proposals and actions to the federal government and other interested parties.

We invite

  • First Nations representatives including Chief and Council, Senior Administrators, Elders, Youth, and Economic Development Officers.
  • Representatives of public enterprises including Government Business Enterprises and related networks and partners.
  • Leaders of Indigenous private enterprises such as sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations

To ensure balanced conversations, we’re limiting attendance to two (2) participants per organization.

Special incentives

  • Door Prize: An Apple Watch, valued at over $300, will be drawn.
  • Reimbursements: Up to $1500 in travel and accommodation expenses are available to registered attendees.
