You'll learn about:Indigenous labour history and the pemmican industryWomen workers at the Great Western Garment factoryImmigrant contributions to city infrastructureKey strikes and protests, including the amusing 1947 Chocolate Bar StrikeYou’ll also get a taste of modern pemmican, see where Edmontonians have worked throughout the river valley, and get to make your own protest signs!Tour Details:Cost: $15 for 2-hour tours, $10 for 1-hour toursFree for kids under 12!Distance: 2.5-3 kilometersStarts and ends at the main entrance of the Royal Alberta Museum (9810 103a Avenue NW)Accessibility:Sidewalks with street crossings, mostly level terrainBathroom access available before the tour at the museumSeating on benches, chairs, and stairs available at limited stops. Bus routes 9 and 5 pass nearby.There are many surface parking lots east of 97 Street, between 103A Avenue and 102 Avenue.City Hall Parkade and the road in front of the Royal Alberta Museum (99 Street, on the north side of 103A Avenue) are closed for pedway construction.Sidewalks near the museum will also be intermittently closed for construction.
