You are invited to the next open stage The Ocean and a Drop – Words and Music for our World, a monthly evening to celebrate and mourn our connection and disconnection through music, word and voice with Tobias Sarra whose theme will be music and mental health.

When: 7.30-9.30 Monday 14 September(every 2nd Monday except in October when it's the 3rd Monday of the month)

Where: The Waverley Bar, 3-5 St Mary's Street, Edinburgh EH1 1TA

Tobias Sarra is an experimental musician, producer, and interdisciplinary artist based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne whose work defies easy categorisation. Singer-songwriter, pianist, multi-instrumentalist and intuitive creator, he blends jazz, folk, contemporary classical, ambient, noise and art-pop into performances and recordings that move fluidly between composed material and improvisation.

His music, rooted in emotional depth and surreal playfulness, often feels like a conversation between spontaneity and structure, inviting listeners into unexpected sonic worlds. Listen here:

Open Stage

He’ll be followed by a welcome to all to share poems, stories, songs or music on the local or global situation. We’ll aim to pick up Tobias' theme of Music and Mental Health and create an open stage with a world and political focus, from the macro to micro for us all to add a drop in the ocean. If you're interested in taking part or supporting this initiative in any other way, please let us know.

Collection

Tobias's chosen cause is Music Minds Matter which exists to help everyone who works in music thrive by supporting their mental wellbeing through services and connections to keep them well.

Please share this with others who you think will be interested. We look forward to seeing you there if you can make it.
