Mercedes will teach you how to make Aji de Gallina, a creamy, spiced chicken stew. For dessert, Mercedes will guide you on how to make sweet Picarones, a traditional Peruvian doughnut made from butternut squash and sweet potato.Once the dishes have been prepared, you’ll sit down together with your fellow attendees to enjoy what you have cooked! This class is BYOB, so you are welcome to bring along some drinks to enjoy as you cook and eat.Tickets can also be purchased from without additional fees.About MercedesMercedes Sullca is a Peruvian cook with culinary experience dating back to her early years. She teaches classes focused on Peruvian home cooking and is passionate about sharing authentic recipes, that are simple yet packed with flavour.Allergens and DietariesThis class can be made suitable for vegetarians, but this must be specified at the time of booking. This recipe contains walnuts, so is not suitable for those with nut allergies. Please email at the time of booking with any allergen or dietary requirements. Since the beginning of the year, we’ve provided over 50 cookbooks and ingredient-based gift bags to participants in our Food Preparation and Budgeting Skills 6-week course. In addition, our weekly Lunch Club has served over 500 free, three course meals so far this year, and continues to support our pledge that good food and good company to share it with, are key to a public health approach to homelessness prevention.
