This one-day conference is jointly presented by the Global Health Academy, University of Edinburgh, PallCHASE (Palliative Care in Humanitarian Aid Situations and Emergencies) and CairdeasIPCT.
Join us in person for an inspiring event where we dive deep into palliative care strategies that go beyond the usual. Expect insightful discussions, real stories, and fresh perspectives to help navigate challenging times with compassion and strength.
The event will explore both hope, and coping, in our rapidly changing and increasingly vulnerable world. Spirituality, mental health, trauma informed care, hope in the context of fragility, compassion and caring for health workers who are providing care for traumatised people in conflict settings will be considered during the day. In addition we will present recent research on access to palliative care including pain and symptom management plus and the experience of healthcare workers. Concepts will be illustrated through a wide range of reflections and examples from challenging situations in conflict affected areas across the world, many of which are affected by increasing climate change and competition for resources. In addition to presentations from experts in the field, there will be opportunities for discussion and mutual learning, both in relation to our own UK practice and the broader global context.
Research snapshots will include contributions from colleagues in Jordan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Gaza and Ukraine.
