- **Event Description**: Spectacular views over the CIty of Edinburgh, Forth Bridges and Pentland Hill range. The walk begins on a track before slowly rising on a good path to the summit of Allermuir Hill (493m). Easy progress is then made along the wide ridge line where views begin to open up. See Edinburgh to your left and hills upon hills to your right. Caerketton summit, slightly lower than Allermuir is reached soon after. The final summit of Hillend lies above the dry ski slope of thre same name and this is where the descent will be made making the route a circuitous one which makes it more interesting! There is also a small herd of Highland Cattle on this route. If desired, there is a coffee stop just before the end of the walk for post walk coffee and cake!

This route is suitable for those who can walk at least 5km/3 miles. The route is 6.5 km/4 miles in total and will take between 2 1/2 and 3 hours to complete

Good to know
Dogs are not allowed due to the Highland Cattle that we may meet on the route. These cattle are canny (placid) beasts but can be provoked by dogs when calfs are around
