A workshop for girls and non-binary folk age 10+About this EventWhat is it?Digital Skills 4 Girls is a monthly workshop for girls and non-binary young people aged 10 - 17 who want to learn new digital skills or develop existing skills. From coding and gaming to digital design and video, DS4G is a friendly and supportive environment to learn new skills and meet new friends.What will I learn?In this fun, hands-on workshop, participants will work in small teams to create their own mini podcast episode from start to finish. Together, they’ll brainstorm show ideas, develop interview questions, rehearse and record segments, and learn simple editing techniques using beginner-friendly tools. Along the way, they’ll build confidence in public speaking, communication, storytelling, and teamwork while sparking creativity and digital skills in a supportive environment.Host bio:Kathryn StrachanKathryn is an award-winning entrepreneur, strategic advisor, and author who started her business from her kitchen table and grew it into a 32-person international agency working with companies all over the world. After successfully selling her business in 2024, she now helps other founders (and future founders!) build their own paths. She’s a regular speaker at global conferences, a mentor to young women in tech and business and mum to an 8-year-old who also loves big ideas.Kathryn believes that everyone has the potential to create something meaningful no matter their age and she’s passionate about helping girls and non-binary young people dream big and start building.This session runs at the same time as Prewired, a coding club for under 19s.Where and when is this taking place?Digital Skills 4 Girls will be on the Wednesday 10th September from 5.30-7pm. The event will take place at CodeBase Edinburgh, 37a Castle Terrace, Edinburgh, EH1 2EL. The venue is step-free, with an accessible toilet available.Who will be there?These monthly sessions are facilitated by Claire Wheelan, Education Programme Manager here at CodeBase, who will be working alongside Cat.RegistrationWe ask everyone to sign up individually, so we can have an estimate of how many people want to attend, this will allow us to prevent food waste by avoiding over-catering. Please cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to attend. We will also check-in each person on Eventbrite as they join the event so make sure you've signed up to the event in order to attend!
