The Rencounter Summer camp: 10 Year Anniversary Edition!
This year's camp is going to be 3 full days of krav maga with a highly experienced team of instructors. There will be training indoors and outdoors in beautiful Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city.
Our training hub will be the North Merchiston Club, and we'll also be going into the city for an atmospheric pub brawl in the Old Town, and training outdoors with a stunning view of Edinburgh - from the top of the iconic Arthur's Seat.
This summer camp we'll also be marking the 10 year anniversary of the club - we've been teaching and training since 2015!
We’re excited to train with you - here’s a little bit about who is teaching and what you can expect to be training.
YOUR TEACHING TEAM:
HOST: LINN HARALDSVIK
Member of KMG's International team of Instructors, Expert level 2 and founder of Rencounter Krav Maga, Linn combines a comprehensive krav maga and military combatives background with violence prevention training - everything that comes before a punch. She'll be taking you through a number of dynamic sessions that will develop your ability to adapt in the moment, and better access your physical skills under pressure, as well as a session on pre-incident indicators, and understanding what type of threat you are dealing with.
PHIL MUNRO
Expert level 3 and KMG Scotland Director, Dr Phil Munro will be leading a unique session on marauding knife attacks, including emergency first aid and the immediate aftermath. Phil combines his many years of experience teaching krav maga with his experience of the real life effects of violence from over 30 years as a doctor working in emergency medicine. This is a learning experience not to be missed!
ALAN CLARK
Expert level 2 and founder of the Stronghold Academy, Alan is an exceptionally skilled krav maga practitioner and life-long martial artist. He has a black belt in kick-boxing and has trained and competed in mutliple styles and disciplines.
Krav Maga is a striking based system, in the end, solid striking is what will stop an aggressor, when that level of force is needed. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, Alan will help you elevate your striking skills to the next level.
HANS MARIUS MARTINSEN
Hailing all the way from KMG Tromsø in Arctic Norway, Expert level 1 Hans Marius Martinsen will be teaching his popular approach to control and restraint, which combines KMG principles with ISR matrix skills and training methods, together with Martinsen's many years of experience applying these skills working in the security industry in Norway. He'll be teaching us how to work together to control someone, as well as individual skills. The sessions will be focusing on how these skills apply to civilians if needed in everyday life.
SARAH MACLEOD
Graduate level 4 KMG instructor and apprentice Training Director with 500Rising, Sarah brings a solid background teaching krav maga and self-defence, together with experience from her previous work, supporting people for whom violence was a common factor in their lives, both as targets and perpetrators of violence. Sarah has a lot of experience in the ultimate self-defence skill: to keep threatening or violent situations from developing in the first place, and prevent threatening situations from turning to violent action when they do arise.
