Formerly an 18th century estate owned by Henry Erskine, the park is now run by West Lothian Council and is managed both for wildlife and for public access. It is long and narrow, and consists mostly of mixed deciduous woodland, with some areas of conifers, grassland and the river Almond. The area is very rich in wildlife, with kingfishers and otters on the river and deer in the woodland - you may even be able to spot the notorious albino squirrel! On this visit we will be controlling bracken to allow a more biodiverse grassland to regenerate. We encourage volunteers to use our minibus for transport.
