Advanced Management Skills – 21st Century Management - 2 days - Thursday 4th October 18 & Thursday 1st November 18
We are almost a 1/5th of our way through the 21st Century however, many managers have sleep walked into the 21st Century using 20th Century management. The world we live and work in is changing at an ever increasing pace; both employees and customers have different expectations and needs to 10 years ago and everything is going digital.
What does it mean to be a great manager in the 21st Century?
This is the best year you will ever have as next year you will be tasked with delivering more with less resource – it is a fact of business life. There is a direct correlation between your management and leadership skills and the performance of your team/ department or business. Leading teams and balancing management input and employee empowerment are constant tensions that many business leaders/managers face.
Remember, that ‘It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent but the one most responsive to change’ Charles Darwin.
Greater capability and confidence in leading and managing people
Better able to free up the time to keep a focus on the future as well as the present
Greater strategic focus and ability to implement organisational change
Your team will feel more empowered and engaged in the business
Enhanced personal and team performance
Feel confident about holding robust delivery conversations and understanding others
Opportunity to discuss 21st Century people management in a safe environment
Who should attend this course?
Aimed at experienced managers and business owners who wish to develop further their management skills.
Delivered over two days, the workshop will explore how to get the best out of your people based on the skill, will and focus model.
It will explore ‘how do I create the capacity, capability and desire in my team to deliver more?’ When to tell and direct and when to coach and empower? How do you tap into an employee’s discretionary effort, get them to go the ‘extra mile’ and really make a difference to your business.
What types of relationships should I be developing with my employees, my wider network and my customers/clients? How do you deliver the day job and at the same time scan the horizon for future opportunities and developments?
What does being strategic really mean and how do you incorporate it into your working week? How do I effectively implement change and new ways of working while continuing to deliver operationally 24/7? And finally, how do you truly understand your customers changing needs and how do you put yourself in ‘their shoes’.
All these questions will be explored and addressed as part of an interactive workshop blending management theory with practical day-to-day examples and participant contributions.
