So let's put on dancing shoes — and/or kilts — for an hour of solid dancing to raise funds and awareness for men’s health.But this isn’t just any dance. We'll be doing the Reel of the 51st Division — a dance created in a prisoner of war camp during the Second World War. It was born out of hardship and hope — designed to lift spirits, build connection, and keep men physically and mentally strong during incredibly dark times. To me, that spirit of resilience, camaraderie, and movement perfectly captures what Movember is all about.This year, that message feels especially close to home. I lost a friend to suicide, and it’s been a painful reminder of how fragile life can be — and how vital it is to talk, to check in, and to support each other through the tough moments. That’s why I wanted to do something active, joined by friends, and very fun — something that celebrates life, movement, and the importance of keeping our spirits up, just like those soldiers did all those years ago.So I’m challenging myself (and anyone who wants to join in!) to an hour of dancing the Reel — for men’s mental health and suicide prevention.And, in the spirit of full transparency — Movember’s marketing has worked its magic on me! I’ve set my sights on raising enough to earn one of those bespoke Movember jumpers. A small, light-hearted goal to go along with a much bigger mission: bringing people together, getting everyone moving, and raising funds for an incredible cause.So please, join me — dance, donate, share, or simply spread the word.
