The word “catechism” literally means “to echo down.” During this season of Lent, we will recall how our faith has been “echoed down” through the ages, passed on from generation to generation through Luther’s Small Catechism. Our roots of faith are planted deeply in the Ten Commandments, the Apostles Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, Holy Baptism, and Holy Communion, and it is out this foundation that our spirits grow in faith, hope, and love.
Join us as we work through parts of the Small Catechism each week of Lent:
- February 25, The Ten Commandments, ELW, p. 1160
- March 4, The Apostles Creed, ELW, p. 1162
- March 11, The Lord’s Prayer, ELW, p. 1163
- March 18, Holy Baptisms, ELW, p. 1164
- March 25, Holy Communion, ELW, p. 1166
Our primary text in this series will be Deuteronomy 6:4-9 but we will also use other, complementary Biblical texts to deepen our prayer life and our faith in Jesus Christ.
Our evening worship will use the Holden Evening Prayer setting. We hope that you will join us at Peace throughout these 40 Days.
A Lenten supper will precede each Wednesday night worship service. Supper will be served 5:30-6:15pm, $5/person.
