- **Event Description**: Join us at the waterfront for a relaxed evening celebrating the May Blue Moon with paddling, a campfire, and good company. All members (and their guests) are invited! The sun sets at 8:21 PM and stay to watch the Blue Moon rise at 9:12 PM. Paddlers are welcome to enjoy the view from the water, while social members can settle in by the fire with snacks and drinks. Please bring your own chair, beverages and any snacks you’d like to enjoy or share. This event is free for members and their invited guests.

A Blue Moon isn’t actually blue; the name refers to the rarity of the event. Traditionally, a Blue Moon is the second full moon in a single calendar month, or in some definitions, the third full moon in a season that contains four. Because it doesn’t happen often, the phrase “once in a blue moon” became a way to describe something uncommon. The May Blue Moon is especially lovely to watch as it rises during the warmer months, making it a perfect excuse to gather by the water. 
BUT having fun at the Red Dragon is not something that happens "once in a blue moon" it is something we do all season long!
