The Understory Film Festival Industry Exchange is where creativity meets opportunity — a dynamic networking and knowledge-sharing platform connecting Far North Queensland filmmakers with leading industry professionals.

This symposium-style event spotlights the exciting career pathways within Australia’s screen industry, with key organisations sharing their latest initiatives and insights. It’s also a vibrant hub for connection and collaboration, designed to strengthen and grow the screen community across our region.

Special guest Mark Melrose, Head of Studios and Physical Production at Screen Queensland Studios, will present highlights from the 2025 Film Intensive Script to Screen Program (FISS) and reveal what’s ahead for the Studios and Cairns-based productions.

We’re also thrilled to welcome Annisa Belonogoff and Bobbi-Lea Dionysius, co-chairs of WIFT Queensland, who will share the latest programs supporting filmmakers in the North. WIFT QLD champions creativity, connection, and professional growth across the ever-evolving screen landscape.
