You and your family are invited to join us for the 5th annual Savannah River Fire Festival!
Enjoy a fun day outdoors celebrating how prescribed fire is good for Georgia’s forests and meet some of the organizations using it to support healthy wildlife habitat and reduce the risk of wildfires.
It’s a FREE festival for the whole family with fire equipment, food trucks, face painting, and games!
Explore nature exhibits, fire equipment, and the many benefits of prescribed fire with our wonderful partners, including (but not limited to!): UGA Mary Kahrs Warnell Forest Education Center, UGA Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, Longleaf Alliance, Burner Bob®, Wildlife Resources Division - Georgia DNR, Georgia Forestry Commission, Effingham County Fire Rescue, Effingham County UGA Cooperative Extension, Chatham County 4-H, Bryan County 4-H, The Georgia Conservancy, Ogeechee Technical College, The Nature Conservancy, Georgia Tree Farm, Ogeechee Riverkeeper, Savannah-Ogeechee Canal Museum and Nature Center, USFWS Savannah Coastal Refuges Complex, Georgia Forestry Foundation, Georgia Forestry Association, Marine Extension and Sea Grant - Rain Water Management Division, Georgia Department of Agriculture, Wormsloe Institute for Environmental History, Rookery & Roots Conservancy, Oatland Island Wildlife Center, Georgia-Alabama Land Trust, Effingham Artists, Georgia Pacific, Marine Extension and Sea Grant - Coastal Ecology Lab, and Chatham County's Master Gardener Extension Volunteer (MGEV) Program.
How to get there:
From I-95: Exit at Exit 102 in Pooler. Go West on Hwy 80 to Faulkville. Turn right on Highway 17 going North. Go 3 miles and look for our sign on the left!
From I-16: Exit at Exit 152. Go North on Highway 17 until it intersects Highway 80. Turn left on Highway 80. In Faulkville, turn right on Highway 17 going North. Go 3 miles and look for our sign on the left!
Please think about carpooling with friends and family when you come to make the most use of our parking space.
While we love your pets, we ask that you please leave them at home during the festival to respect the Center's no-pet policy.
In case of inclement weather, the rain date for this event is February 28 and updates will be given in this Facebook event.
