Event #1 – Bird Walk

Date – September 27, 2025

Location – Bayou Sauvage Urban National Wildlife Refuge (17160 Chef Menteur Hwy, New Orleans, LA 70129)

Early risers can also enjoy a guided bird walk along the boardwalk trail, perfect for beginner and experienced birders alike. Spot resident and migratory species while learning more about the birds that call Bayou Sauvage home. 

 

Event #2 – Botanical Sun Printing

Date – September 27, 2025

Time –  9am – 11am

Location – Bayou Sauvage Urban National Wildlife Refuge (17160 Chef Menteur Hwy, New Orleans, LA 70129)

Over at the Ridge Trail and Boardwalk, join Ranger Giessell Aguilar for a hands-on Botanical Sun Printing activity. Using the historic cyanotype process, participants will create beautiful blue-toned nature prints using native plants and sunlight. This art-meets-science project is part of our Saturday at the Refuge service learning program—great for families, students, and nature lovers!

 

Event #3 – Paddle the Marsh

Date – September 27, 2025

Time –  10am – 12pm

Location – Bayou Sauvage Urban National Wildlife Refuge (17160 Chef Menteur Hwy, New Orleans, LA 70129)

Kick off the day with a guided canoe trip through Joe Madere Marsh, led by our talented interns Jemail and Malik. Experience the refuge from a whole new perspective as you explore wetland habitats by water. (Limited spots). Please Register.
