- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 02 May, 2026 at 01:00 pm – Sat, 02 May, 2026 at 02:00 pm (-05:00)
- **Event Description**: Any time you visit Carson Park in the summer, expect to hear the crack of a bat and the cheers of the crowd. This presentation features stories about Jackie Robinson’s historic 1947 season, the first Black players to become Eau Claire Bears, and reflections on the responsibilities of sports heroes. Delve a bit deeper into Eau Claire’s connection with baseball listening to Maureen Slauson, Marty’s daughter and editor of this book, as she shares some of her father’s stories which are full of knowledge and wisdom such as "What you have to be is aware. Because the sweet and precious moments are quickly gone -- and they do not come back." While in Eau Claire Marty had radio shows on WRFW and WEAU. His columns appeared regularly in several state newspapers. A great kick-off to summer. Included with museum admission.
