Jim Sabol, born 1934, is a Tacoma kid who grew up one foot in town, one on his grandparents' farm in Frederickson.  He was part of the National Council of Teachers of English and Director at the Writing Northwest Program Seattle Pacific University. He can usually be found at meetings of model railroaders, on his John Deere, or leading a sing-a-long off key.
