Zora Neale Hurston, the Great Mother of , understood the power, potential, possibilities, and purpose that manifested from recovering our past. Only moving through the spaces of the past can we dream, chart, and plot our places in the future. Her own principles were born in Historic Eatonville, where her mother taught her how to "jump at the sun," beginning a lifelong sojourn across the United States and beyond, preserving and collecting memories, recipes, folklores, and stories across the Black Diaspora. Florida-raised author, resident Zoraphile, and friendly neighborhood historian, Sidney Rose McCall invites you spend Kwanzaa with her in Zora's girlhood hometown, sharing her experiences working in the oldest incorporated Black town in the United States, the histories connected to Eatonville, and reimagining our everyday practices and activism through the seven principles of Kwanzaa (with a read-along of her children's book Once Upon a Kwanzaa).
