About the event

In Search of the Declaration: A Bus Tour of Easton, Trenton, & Philadelphia
Guests will explore all three sites where the Declaration of Independence was read aloud on July 8, 1776.

About this Event

The Northampton County Historical & Genealogical Society is excited to announce the launch our long-anticipated bus tour, “In Search of the Declaration: A Historic Tour of Easton, Trenton, and Philadelphia.” In these three extraordinary locations, the Declaration of Independence was first read aloud on July 8, 1776, marking a monumental shift in our country's history that still echoes 250 years after its adoption and ratification.

Guests will begin their day at 9:00am at the Sigal Museum, where our certified guides will lead you through an exclusive tour of our exhibit, Read This! The History of Media in Northampton County. Then, you will board the bus to travel to Washington Crossing Historic Park, the 1719 William Trent House, and Christ Church Philadelphia for private, guided tours and behind-the-scenes experiences.

You will also enjoy lunch at the historic Washington Crossing Inn, featuring a seasonal garden salad, choice between vegetarian or meat main course, and dessert. But the excitement doesn’t stop after returning home at the end of the day! Included with the tour is a pass to return to the Sigal Museum and the 1753 Bachmann Publick House to continue exploring local history.

"In Search of the Declaration" will run from 9:00am to 6:00pm on the second Saturday of every month, from November 2025 to December 2026.

Please Note: Due to the nature of the historic structures, each site may or may not be ADA accessible. This tour does involve periods of walking and standing, both inside and outside. Tickets are non-refundable with limited exceptions. If you have any questions regarding your ticket or the day's itinerary, please call the Sigal Museum directly at 610-253-1222, or email Community Engagement Associate Emma Hartman at ZW1tYSB8IG5vcnRoYW1wdG9uY3R5bXVzZXVtICEgb3Jn.
