Using watercolor pencils and graphite, experience the joy of creating botanical illustrations of plants including vegetables and flowers. Instruction begins with line, shape, and tonal drawing. Then we will add perspective, color, texture, and details. We will look at many contemporary and historical examples to learn about how to effectively compose a botanical illustration.
Subjects will be selected from the plant life that thrives at Arcadia. We will learn to identify and illustrate important key features, such as stems, leaves and buds. We will also do a dissection of a flower creating a unique botanical study. Color studies, exercises, and sharing of ideas will be practiced throughout the course. This is a lively and fun class filled with discovery and learning.
All levels are welcome! We will learn as a group and through individualized instruction.
