Join us in search of spring migrants. We will meet Saturday morning at Bay City State Park, searching the woods and shoreline for our quarry. From there we will visit the tower at Nayanquing Point. We will work our way north through the Au Gres area including a stop Big Creek Rd which always provides some interesting warblers. We will spend the night in Tawas. The leaders will be staying at the Crows Nest/Bay Inn, but you are welcome to stay wherever you like. Dinner will be at Mangos (Mexican) in town. An evening trip to the point or Tuttle Marsh will be offered. On Sunday morning we will walk Tawas Point. Depending on bird reports and time, other destinations may be added, such as Oscoda Airport or Clark’s Marsh.
Bring bug spray. It’s a good idea to prep your clothes & shoes with Permethrin. A mesh head covering can be helpful as the “hatch” can sometimes be intense at the tip of the point. Not trying to scare you off, just best to be prepared! Accessibility: All of our walks are on basically flat trails, unless you decide to traverse up the short sand dunes to peak on the other side. Most of the trails will be unimproved dirt or sand, so may be uneven footing in some areas.
