The 2026 Tom Twomey Series continues at 7pm on Friday, March 27 with “Valedictory Orations, Songs and Speeches, Harangues and Dialogues: Clinton Academy 1821-1921.” In this lively presentation hosted by East Hampton Town and Village Historian Hugh R. King, Clinton Hall’s 100-year theatrical history will be brought to life with special oratory and musical performances. Featured performers will include Joe Delia, Joe Brondo, Francine Whitney, Franco Pistritto, Joanie McDonell, and David Cataletto—appearing as the historical characters John H. Hector, The Montague Light Opera Singers, Samuel H. Miller, and Herman Hans Wetzler.

For over 100 years, Clinton Hall (known as Clinton Academy prior to 1886) was the center of entertainment not only for East Hampton but for the surrounding area—it was the forerunner of Guild Hall. Theater events—including dramas, tragedies and musicals as well as concerts and tableaus—were performed by both local thespians and citizens from as far away as Smithtown.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Hugh R. King is both the East Hampton Town and East Hampton Village Historian, the Town Crier, and the Historic Site Director for the three East Hampton Village windmills and Home Sweet Home Museum. In addition to teaching for 33 years, Hugh was active in local theater productions from 1963-1999.

MORE INFO: Free admission. Programs are presented in the library’s Baldwin Family Lecture Room. Advanced reservations are requested but not required. For additional event information and to reserve a seat, visit: TomTwomeySeries.org
