At 6:30 PM, learn more about owls with The Raptor Center including an owl encounter in the Lindeman Discovery Center. After the owl program, Cedar Creek staff will lead the visitors on a night hike, keeping an ear and eye out for owls and other nocturnal wildlife.Participants have the choice of two night hikes:Hike Option 1: Family Hike - Best for ages 5 plusJoin Cedar Creek Staff for a half-mile, family-friendly hike exploring the forests of and learning more about nocturnal animals along the way. We will finish the family hike around 8:00 PM. Walking distance: ~0.5 miles. Activity level: gentle walking on snow/ice covered sandy interior road.Hike Option 2: Cedar Bog Lake Hike - Best for ages 10 plusCedar Creek staff will lead visitors through the prairie and forest, keeping a lookout and earout for owls and other nocturnal creatures. Experience a cedar swamp, decidous forest, and small lake along the way. Walking distance: ~1.25 miles. Activity level: gentle walking over a variety of surfances (sand, dirt, boardwalk). NOTE: This hike will require navigating a snow filled ditches and crossing an unlit county road in the dark. At 5:30 PM, we will have a pre-progam, family-oriented craft activity connected to nocturnal animals. If you would like to attend the pre-activity, please select the "Add on" in the registration page.Be sure to dress for the weather and wear boots or shoes that are appropriate for hiking in potentially wet, snowy, icy, and muddy spots, or over uneven terrain. Please bring a flashlight, as this part of the property is away from lights.
