Focus on compositional elements, including shapes and silhouettes, color transitions and value contrast to create a center of interest, and contrasting color temperatures with lost and found edges. Begin each class with a short demo delving into the elements of painting, composition, and color inspired by master watercolor painters.
Nov. 13 - Silhouette and shape inspired by Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keefe and Thomas Schaller.
Nov. 20 - Focal points using contrast of value, and mingling paint for beautiful color transitions and color harmony inspired by Sargent, Sorolla and Homer
Dec. 4 - Contrasting color and color temperatures for compositional movement applied to a still life inspired by Bonnard, Sargent, and The Group of Seven.
Easels and tables are supplied by the Castiglia Art Center. All other materials will be supplied by each individual. A suggested supply list will be sent.
