Backyard Chickens 101

Learn how to keep backyard chickens! Become educated about different chicken breeds and what works best for your location, types of housing, types of feed, and bedding options. Ensure your chicken keeping operation runs smoothly through learning how to treat and prevent illnesses. Chicken manure is a valuable fertilizer for your garden and through foraging your chickens can help keep insect pest populations down and weeds at bay.

This class is taught by Sarah Harvey. Sara has spent over 10 years doing independent research as well as corresponding with vets, universities, hatcheries, and companies that manufacture poultry vaccinations. She also has an official recommendation of veterinarian Dr. Scott McKay of Rhinelander for people seeking advice and guidance with chicken keeping. Sarah has published two books that will be available to purchase at this event.

This is an indoor lecture style program with time for questions.
