WAILIN STORMS

Born in the sweltering heat of Corpus Christi before migrating to North Carolina, Wailin Storms have spent more than a decade forging their singular blend of Southern gothic, doom-laden noise rock. Like a piercing pale moon eye rolling across the empty black velvet night, Wailin Storms float through soundscapes filled with heavy symbolism, mysticism, and Southern folklore. Drawing from the ominous vocal traditions of Howlin' Wolf and The Birthday Party, the band channels the emotional intensity of Sixteen Horsepower, Bauhaus, and Swans, carving out a distinctive place within the heavy music landscape.

Their new record The Arsonist is set to be released on Season of Mist this summer and was recorded entirely in analog by Matt Talbott of Hum at Earth Analog. Their approach to recording this album was to capture the raw intensity that embodies the band’s live performance that also harkens back to the band's roots. Their past releases Sick City, Rattle, and The Silver Snake Unfolds received praise from NPR, Decibel Magazine, Metal Injection, Metal Hammer Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan, Invisible Oranges, and many others, establishing the band’s reputation for dark, cinematic songwriting and haunting storytelling.
