For their March 21 2021 event the organizers have generously set aside free Half Marathon and Full Marathon entries for Ascend supporters . The normal registration fee is $95 for the Full and $85 for the Half.

The cultural obstacles facing young women in Afghanistan are over whelming. Ascend's ground breaking programs build young women’s self-confidence, civic mindedness and leadership skills through the sport of climbing. The short term goals of the program include developing climbing skills and achieving tangible climbing objectives. The longer term goal is to develop a cadre of strong female leaders who are equipped and motivated to help their society transition to peace. These young women occupy a unique space in Afghan culture; serving as powerful role models for Afghan girls through their climbing achievements and their civic contributions.
