- **Event Description**: Join Durham Historical Society member John Ertle on a hike to the Pest House site! John is an experienced hiker and has been leading tours to the site for over a decade. Please consider carpooling as the parking area at this location is small. Afterwards, come back to the historical society for the open house that is taking place from 10am-1pm (will extend the end time if needed). The hike will last approximately 2 hours. 

The Pest House was built in 1760 as a place to quarantine townspeople with infectious diseases, mainly small pox. 

Expect wet, rocky, and uneven terrain on this moderately difficult hike off the beaten path. Please dress appropriately.

Parking: Cream Pot Road (off of Guilford Road/Rt 77). There is a parking area at the end of the road for the Mattabesett Trail.
