Join the Central NC AGO chapter as we partner with John Santioanni to experience the organs at Duke Chapel and the Divinity School. Duke Chapel is exceptional in having five outstanding pipe organs, each in a different style,
which are used regularly for worship services, recitals, and the study of organ performance. These instruments include the Flentrop, 1976, located in the nave, the Aeolian, 1932, located in
the chancel, the Brombaugh, 1997, found in the Memorial Chapel, a continuo organ (John Bennett, 2014), typically found in the chancel and used for accompanying small groups, and a
one-manual continuo instrument (Flentrop, 1970s) located in the crypt. The Duke Divinity School features a sixth instrument, a Richards, Fowkes & Co. organ built in 2008.
John Santoianni is the Ethel Sieck Carrabina Curator of Organs and Harpsichords at Duke University. John P. Santoianni maintains and tunes the four pipe organs in Duke Chapel, as well as the harpsichords and pipe organs in the Music Department and in the Divinity School.
