- **Event Description**: This 2.5-hour workshop provides an immersive dive into the fundamental skills, concepts, and techniques of Contact Improvisation, providing the groundwork to safely continue learning the form in the context of jamming and classes.

You’ll get some basic physical and emotional safety and techniques under your belt, and get a taste of the joy of the practice!  Great for those new to CI or anyone who wants to gently revisit the foundations of the form.

All body types, ages, and abilities are invited to participate. 

Physically ~ We will be rolling and moving on the floor and transitioning up and down off of the floor. Modifications can be provided and we welcome students informing their teachers about any physical limitations.

Socially/Emotionally ~ Touch and movement interaction with others can be a lot of fun and can also bring up challenging feelings. Extensive education, discussion, and practice around consent and boundaries is integrated into our open-level pedagogy and is sufficient for most students to feel safe and have a great time. Our classes are “trauma-informed” but they are not therapy~ if you have a tendency to get strongly triggered, we recommend making sure you have outside support (like a therapist) when signing up for this class.
