Winner of Best Picture at the 1941 Academy Awards, Hitchcock’s thriller follows a young bride (Joan Fontaine) who moves into her new husband Max De Winter’s (Laurence Olivier) estate and quickly realizes she’s living in the shadow of his dead wife. Housekeeper Mrs. Danvers (Judith Anderson) is obsessed with Rebecca and determined to make the new wife’s life miserable. Secrets, lies, and jealousy ripple through the household, and the bride must uncover the truth behind Rebecca’s mysterious death—before the past destroys her. Every hallway hides danger, every glance carries weight, and no one can be trusted.
