Time Just for You – A Gentle Pause in NatureA Guided Forest Bathing Experience for Professionals and Volunteers Supporting Care- and Trauma-Experienced Children, Young People and FamiliesIf you spend your days supporting care- and trauma-experienced children, young people and families, you'll know how rewarding the work can be. You'll also know that it can be emotionally demanding.Whether you're a social worker, therapeutic practitioner, residential care worker, family support worker, teacher, teaching assistant or work in a related role, you spend so much time caring for others. As an adoptive parent and parent of a neurodivergent child, I'm deeply grateful for the support my own family has received from professionals like you. This session is my way of giving something back while also offering you the chance to experience the nature based approaches that many of the families you support have found beneficial. This is your opportunity to pause, breathe, and invest in your own wellbeing.Join us for a gentle Forest Bathing walk through the beautiful Durham University Botanic Garden. No targets, deadlines, reports or meetings... just time to slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience first-hand the restorative benefits that so many of the parents and carers attending our Thrive with Nature programme have discovered for themselves.Forest Bathing, or Shinrin-yoku, is a simple but powerful Japanese nature connection practice shown to reduce stress, lift mood, and support overall wellbeing. With Kirstie from Through the Trees as your guide, you'll be introduced to simple, accessible practices that can help restore balance, improve wellbeing, and deepen your connection with the natural world. As well as taking time for yourself, you'll gain a first-hand understanding of the nature based approaches we offer through Thrive with Nature, helping you make informed referrals and confidently share future opportunities with the families you support. What you'll experience? Gentle grounding and breathwork to release tension? Simple nature-connection activities to engage your senses? Eco art and creative moments inspired by nature?
