Our Whole Life as Practice
A New Year's Householder Retreat with Yong Oh & Kate Siber
IN PERSON & ONLINE
Multiple gatherings from January 5-9, 2026—all offered both in-person and on Zoom.
"In the mundane, nothing is sacred. In sacredness, nothing is mundane."
- Zen teacher Dogen
Join us as we ease into this new year through mindful practice, community and spiritual friendship. Whether you’re renewing your connection to meditation or deepening your commitment to the path, we’ll gather together to pause, reflect and begin again. In the classical teachings, the word "householder" is used to describe one who, rather than choosing the life of a monastic, was encouraged to bring the practice into their everyday lives. Our home lives, relationships, work and everything in between, become our integrated path of practice for spiritual awakening.
The retreat opens Monday morning and runs through Friday evening. We will meet for an hour-long gathering in the morning and an hour-long gathering in the evening for guided practice, connection and discussion. Monday evening will be the regularly scheduled DDC evening, and the Friday evening closing will be a 2 hour meeting. Between the morning and evening gatherings, the intention is to invite practice into the flow of our messy and beautiful lives, leaving nothing outside of our spiritual practice.
This retreat, led by Yong Oh and Kate Siber, will be in-person as well as hybrid via zoom, and is suitable for all levels of meditation experience. You are welcome to attend the sessions that work for your schedule and let go of what you cannot attend because of prior obligations.
Monday – 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 5:30-6:45p.m. (DDC)
Tuesday-Thursday – 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Friday – 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 6:00-8:00p.m.
COST: The Dharma Center operates on the gift economy and the cost of this offering is on a two-part sliding scale. The fee that you offer through the registration system ($100, $175, $250, or $325 or scholarship options of $50 or $25) supports our non-profit, which pays the costs of the website, administration, building, etc. In keeping with our 2,600-year-old tradition, the teachers of the retreat are not compensated but rather share the teachings freely. In turn, you are invited into the practice of dana, or generosity, a gift economy system that has been alive since the time of the Buddha. At the end, you are invited to make a donation to support the teachers in continuing their valuable work. Donations in any amount whatsoever are gratefully received, and the practice of generosity is always elective.
