An intermission, a place to, just, be.
 The Break is a Friday evening open studio created exclusively for autistic teens and their families.

Many neurodivergent youth want connection but find traditional social spaces exhausting, awkward, or hard to navigate.

The Break is designed to take the pressure off. There’s no expectation to make friends, hold conversations, or participate in group activities. Being together in the same space — working, playing, or creating side by side — is enough.

The studio offers a range of self-guided stations that naturally act as ice-breakers without forcing interaction, including games, puzzles, LEGO-based printmaking, mixed media art, and quiet creative work. Teens are free to move between activities, observe, or spend time on their own.

Families are welcome to stay, join in, or step back as needed.

The space is supervised by staff to ensure safety and respect, while honouring different communication styles, sensory needs, and social boundaries. 

Free admission, by we appreciate pay-what-you-can contributions towards supplies and staff to make the program accessible to everyone and sustainable.
