2024 sees the 1st Dunmow Scout Group celebrate its 100th year of continuous scouting in Great Dunmow. Whilst our original group was formed in 1910, WW1 meant that it had to be closed for a period due to our leaders and young men volunteering for service.
Our current group was re-started on the 1st September 1924, and we are very proud of the fact that we have be running non-stop Scouting for the young people of Dunmow and the surrounding area for the past 100 years and to celebrate this we have organised a number of activities for our current members throughout the coming year.
We would also like to invite ALL past members of the group, their partners and family to our open day celebration on Saturday 7th September at our headquarters in Mill Lane, Dunmow. You can join us on our day anytime from 12 noon through to early evening, with refreshments available all day, there will be plenty of seating available to enjoy a cuppa and chat or something a bit stronger and also food.
We would love you to join us and take the opportunity to walk around our HQ, which is still the best in the area, chat to our current members and leaders and catch up with old friends and past members.
Our archivist Pete Graves will be organising a display of our archives for you to peruse and see if you can find yourself on any of the photos. Having been with the group for many years I certainly have lots of memories to share and do hope that you will be able to join us.
