The site remained derelict from closure until it was purchased by Hargreaves Land in 2013. It is now regarded as one of Scotland’s largest industrial redevelopment and regeneration projects.Join Scottish Mining Landscapes’ geologist, Katie Strang, ecologist, Emily Jane Hay and artist Yvonne Weighand Lyle for the first of eight activities across the Scottish Midland Coalfield from Fife to Ayrshire in July that combine rocks, fossils, plant and art (cyanotype printing and clay pressing) that turn former mining landscapes into places of family fun designed for intergenerational learning.This free event is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.Further information on parking and instructions will be emailed to all attendees.Please note this event is an outdoors activity.
