An Evening with Rachel Walker
Fife Gaelic presents... An Evening with Rachel Walker
In the first of our 2019 folk nights, we bring you the talented Rachel Walker.
Rachel Walker is a Gaelic singer, songwriter and tutor living in the West Highlands of Scotland. She became involved with Gaelic song from a very young age after her family moved from Lincolnshire in England to the small village of Kinlochewe in Wester Ross.
Rachel continues to perform with Gaelic quartet Cruinn, who focus on vocal harmony arrangements and new compositions. She also performs regularly with celtic super-group Skipinnish. She has formed a musical partnership with fiddle virtuoso Archie McAllister, and has played at several high profile gigs with him over the past twelve months, including a support act for Skipinnish at their sold out Glasgow Barrowland gig.
As a composer, Rachel has been commissioned to compose for organisations such as Scotland Sings and SNH, and her work has been showcased at festivals such as the Royal National Mòd and Celtic Connections. Her song-writing has also earned critical acclaim, with her song Fada Bhuam chosen to represent Scotland at the Liet international song contest, and her recent single, featuring Skerryvore’s lead singer Alec Dalglish, reaching number 1 in the World Music download chart.
We welcome you at the East End Football Parks Purvis Suite. With a well stocked bar, friendly staff and an evening full of song and music, we can't wait to see you there.
