About the event

Thirst for Knowledge: Tiny critters love greener cities – urban biodiversity in action
Urban nature boosts our wellbeing, but how can we design it to also support native biodiversity - and why does that matter? In this talk doctoral candidate Jacqueline Theis from the University of Otago's Department of Zoology will examine how tracking insect communities along Ōtepoti’s George Street planters, together with the use of biodiversity assessment tools in urban planning, can inform smart city design to enhance biodiversity, strengthen ecosystem resilience, and improve quality of urban life.
